Empty Nesting, a midlife term that brings up deep feelings of change, both sweet and bitter. Empty Nest Syndrome is not a medical term, but the feelings that come with it may need some support. For some, this shift in motherhood is one of deep reflection, regret, joy, sadness, loss and rebirth.
Trigger Warning: I share an experience in my life of losing a family friend as a murder victim. It is shared in the greater context of motherhood and grief, and may be traumatic for some to listen to.
In this episode, I share my feelings of empty nesting, and how it heightened my feelings of grief. I recorded it in the second, very quiet week, of my daughter’s actual move away to school.
I also share three words that are helping me move through this emotional time in midlife.
Update 2023: there is a LOT I have learned about podcasting, and communication since recordig a lot of these early episodes. I am thanking you for being patient with my early storytelling episodes. I will be refiing and growing through this podcasting and life process. That to me, is the magic of embracing mistakes, and humanness.
